Avocado Lime Ranch dressing is one of the primary driving forces of our frequent visits to Chick-fil-a. I am straight up addicted to the tangy lime infused avocado ranch. I get it as my dressing on their salads, but also squeeze it onto the wrap they have too. My daughter is keen on the chicken strips and waffle fries, so we are there a lot... except of course on Sundays.
This is my very favorite of chick fil a salad dressings and makes a great dipping sauce too!
Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
I created this knock off of the Chick-fil-a avocado lime ranch salad dressing recipe to quell my cravings on Sundays or when the weather is bad. Due to this mild obsession, I found myself with a packet of the bona fide stuff, taste testing to compare as I adjusted the dressing recipe. This is about as close as you are going to get with typical kitchen ingredients.
Now we have one less thing to miss when the Chick-fil-a restaurants are closed on Sunday.
Rather than the standard sour cream many use in similar dressings, mayo was a better match. I've used Greek yogurt in another version and while yummy and better nutritionally, it lacked the texture and creaminess of this recipe.
How to Make Avocado Ranch Salad Dressing
Now let's get down to making a batch of this yummy copycat avocado ranch dressing. Printable recipe card is below.
Ingredients for the Dressing
Here are all the ingredients you will need to make the creamy avocado lime ranch dressing.
- 1 large ripe avocado
- ⅔ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon homemade ranch seasoning (or a dry ranch dressing mix packet)
- 2 tablespoon oil (I used avocado, but olive oil is fine)
- zest of one lime
- fresh lime juice (from half the lime)
- 1 ½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 2 tablespoon water
Preparation
Zest your lime, then slice it in half and set aside. You will only be using the juice of half the lime.
Slice the avocado in half and remove pit. Scoop the flesh out into your blender or food processor.
Add the rest of the ingredients into the blender, including the lime juice.
Pulse the dressing until smooth.
Ideally, chill the dressing for half an hour or more before serving, but if you want to dig right in... go for it.
Serving the Avocado Ranch
While it is of course great as a dressing as shown above, this is a nice thick dressing that works great as a spread on sandwiches and wraps. It is a fabulous veggie dip and I enjoy it on grilled meats and even a dollop on a burrito. Try drizzling some over Blackened Chicken or my Spanish Cauliflower Rice... oh yeah!
Is Avocado Lime Ranch Keto?
Yes, the recipe is keto compliant a two tablespoon serving of the salad dressing has just 2 net carbs. Based on using my homemade ranch seasoning mix. It may be slightly more, if you use a store bought packet.
Storing the Dressing
Store the homemade salad dressing in an airtight container. A mason jar works perfectly.
The lime, salt, and vinegar in the dressing will keep it from discoloring, at least for a couple days. I would not keep this dressing more than a few days though, even refrigerated. There are no preservatives to block bacterial growth.

I saw this on Facebook and had to give it a try. It is is my favorite. I have to say the recipe really does taste just like the dressing from Chickfila.

I’m pretty darn certain the Chick Fil a version has cumin in it. I love that spice and I can definitely taste and smell it. It’s the “southwest” twist they mention in their description. Try adding some next batch and see what you think.
Robin Gagnon says
I'll give it a whirl next time.
Crystal Hendrix says
The cumin DEFINITELY makes it taste just like chick-fil-a!! Without it, I didn’t think it tasted like the one from Chick-fil-A.
Kayla Norris says
how much cumin do you add?
Jayleen says
Thank you thank you thank you! My sister gets mad at me for going to Chickfila now I can make this at home for the wrap I love there. I'll just get nugs on the down low.
Robin Gagnon says
LOL... yeah they are controversial... but the food is SO good... I crave this dressing so I had to figure out how to make it.
JANA MCCULLOUGH says
Oh, my gosh......I am addicted to this dressing as well! I eat their market salad twice a week (all I can afford) but the main draw is the dressing!! Thank you so much for this recipe!
deefee says
by the way, I always ask for an extra dressing and they always give it to me free of charge...give it a try!
Robin Gagnon says
I do that as well 😀

I can't eat most pre-made dressings as they trigger migraines (carrageenan is the usual suspect), so I decided to try this recipe since it doesn't include any of my trigger foods. It's divine! I absolutely love it. Yes, it is high in fat and I'm sure I use more than 1 serving, but it doesn't give me migraines and it tastes great, so I'm good with that. BTW: if you get migraines, make sure to use Hellman's mayo since they no longer include carrageenan as a thickening agent.
Robin Gagnon says
Good tip about the carrageenan and I'm glad you can enjoy this dressing without a headache 🙂

This dressing was phenomenal. Even better than Chick-fil-a and very easy to make. We used it on our shrimp tacos, mixed in the shredded cabbage. Awesome dinner. Thanks for the recipe.
HS says
Great recipe. The zing pops!
I had to add more lemon because the mayo overpowered the flavor.
Next time I will reduce the mayo and increase the water to get a more fluid mixture.
But it is yummy!
Thank you!

I made this with Kraft reduced fat Avocado oil Mayo and it was AMAZING at only 113 Calories and 12 grams of fat for 2 tablespoons and even better than its namesake!!
Erika says
This is an absolutely delicious recipe. I had been searching high and low in the grocery store for an equivalent to the CFA version but this allows me to make it myself and know what is actually in my dressing. Thank you so much!!
vanessa wright says
what brand of mayo did you use?
Robin Gagnon says
I typically use Sir Kensington's Avocado mayo, but when making a big batch I use Hellmann's. It is more cost effective and honestly closer to the original.
Jan says
I added a pinch of cumin as another person suggested and followed everything else to a "T". I CANNOT tell the difference between this and Chick-fil-A. AMAZING!
deefee says
Chick fil A salads have gotten smaller, they cut out the spicy pepitas so I prefer to make my own now and this dressing is exact and perfect. Isn't it strange how a person can crave chick fil a before remembering it is a Sunday? Thanks for this!
Mary Bear says
Fabulous. I used a 1/4 cup of buttermilk and skipped the water. One of my very favorite salad dressings now.
Rita says
I made a mistake and added the lime juice from the whole lime. It was still delicious, but could have used more avocados due to my mix up.
Mira says
This is a great recipe, but others were right about the cumin being important for a complete dupe of the Chick-fil-A version. I add some Tajin and/or chipotle powder for a little extra kick! I also sub the mayo for Greek yogurt because it gives a lighter, smooth taste that is less calories. Thank you 😊
