During the holiday season, many of us like to be more prepared for impromptu entertaining. Friends and family are in town and of course everyone is busy-busy, so if the opportunity to get together pops up, we want to take advantage of it. A little easy pre-planning will make you ready to entertain, at the drop of a hat. Stocking at least a basic assortment of beverages, keeping clutter to a minimum and having easy to prepare foods on-hand will cover most of your needs, for last-minute guests. Stash a couple bags of chips in the pantry. Baby carrots, celery & dip in the fridge and of course the freezer should have some Farm Rich Snacks to pop in the oven. I sort of went with an Italian theme on this little spread. Mozzarella sticks and toasted ravioli, the breaded mushrooms I just wanted to try (just serve a bit of sour cream dip with them). The boxes are not particularly large, but are full, and contain a lot more than you might expect. I simply opened a jar of pesto and a jar of pizza sauce to dip the appetizers in. I did gently warm the pizza sauce, but the pesto doesn’t require it. Why pizza sauce rather than marinara? It is thicker and richer, so it not only provides more flavor, but is less likely to drip on your guests. The pesto is wonderful on the toasted ravioli. This easy appetizer spread can be ready to serve in less than a half hour (and that factors in time for the oven to preheat). Your guests are sure to feel welcome as they enjoy these warm crisp appetizers, and the colors of the dip fit aptly with the season. So, stop fussing in the kitchen and go enjoy your company.
