Build-a-Bear has a fun new character line geared toward the empowerment of girls. The new characters are the Honey Girls a musical band with a positive message about friendship and the importance of all our varied talents.
The Honey Girls were classmates who decided to form their own band. Through their music, the Honey Girls developed a strong friendship, which keeps them together. Each of the girls has her own individual strengths and talents. The combination of what makes each girl unique, elevates the friends to “be brighter together.” The story shows how the girls don’t just make better music together, but how they have gained great friends too.
Let’s meet the friends:
First, there is Teegan. She is the fearless and bold lead singer.
Then there is Risa; the guitarist. She is all about music and being creative.
Last, but certainly not least, is Viv; the drummer. She’s not only a great friend but also a talented inventor.
I think it’s great that these fun characters are designed to encourage children to express their passions and confidently tackle obstacles, especially with teamwork.
Each Honey Girls characters comes with a special plush star, which children can use to customize their dolls. Each of the stars represents a positive, aspirational trait of empowerment, such as creative, confident, talented, smart, fearless and strong. You can purchase as many additional stars as you like. As an added bonus, each Honey Girl comes in a specially designed “condo” that converts into a performance stage.
There is more to the Honey Girls than simply plush dolls though. As musicians, they of course want to share some songs with you and your child. The group’s debut song is titled “Everything is Better.”and each of the Honey Girls characters has her own original song as well. You can listen to a special “sneak preview” now.
…but wait, there is more. The interactive Honey Girls Studio App allows children to learn more about the Honey Girls by interacting with the characters. The app has biographies, music videos, a music video maker and selfie activity, as well as memory games and the ability to unlock special features, while following the bands journey. (The app will be available for download in iTunes and Google Play in July)
The Honey Girls friends will be available for purchase online starting July 8 at BuildABear.com/Honey-Girls and in-store at Build-A-Bear Workshops starting July 10. Retail price for each character is $28; outfits and accessories are sold separately.
