This banana peach smoothie is kid friendly, both to drink and to prepare. My daughter had a great time making this easy breakfast drink recipe. The smoothie is vegan as well.
Peach Banana Smoothie for Breakfast
Peaches are one of those fruits that can bring summer to any day. I keep a bag of organic frozen sliced peaches stocked in my freezer all the time, so we are smoothie ready.
Bananas are inexpensive, available year round and an awesome source of potassium. The banana also makes this delicious smoothie drink filling.
Today we went with almond milk and orange juice as the liquids in the smoothie. We do often add Greek yogurt for thicker smoothies and for protein.
Smoothie Recipe for Kids
My daughter selected the ingredients for this healthy smoothie, with a little guidance from me. She loves watching food videos. Sadly, due to her poor motor coordination (she has autism and apraxia) her kitchen skills are limited.
As she is on her winter school break, I'm doing some simple recipes with her this week. She's pretty excited about it. It's mostly her hands in the recipe preparation video and she did the final selections on the pictures in this article.
She enjoyed drinking the fruits of her labor too.
Peach Smoothie Vegan
This peach smoothie without yogurt is made with almond milk and orange juice, so it is vegan. The banana in the smoothie thickens it up enough and the frozen peaches also add body to this simple fruit smoothie. If you have fresh peaches, then frozen bananas or the addition of a little crushed ice would help with the shake like texture.
How to Make a Banana Peach Smoothie
This is super easy and printable recipe card is below.
Ingredients
Here is everything you will need to make the peach banana smoothie. Of course, smoothies are pretty versatile, so toss in another fruit or swap in some yogurt if you prefer.
- 1 cup frozen peach slices
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup almond or coconut milk, or milk of choice
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon honey
Preparation
Toss everything in your favorite blender and pulse to blend until smooth. That's about it.
Fresh Peach Smoothie
If you have fresh peaches rather then the frozen fruit used in this recipe, no worries. Add the fresh sliced peaches into the blender as you would the frozen and simply add a scoop of ice as well. If using organic fresh peach slices you don't even need to worry about peeling the skin off. It will puree right up.
Protein Boost
If you are not vegan and prefer a bit more protein add Greek yogurt in place of some or all of the almond milk. The resulting smoothie will be a little thicker in consistency too.
