This Panera tuna sandwich copycat recipe will cover your tuna salad cravings when you want to stay home.
Are you a big fan of the tuna salad sandwiches at everyone's favorite cafe chain, Panera?
Well, today I have a copycat Panera Tuna Salad Sandwich recipe for you to make at home.
It's perfect for those days you just can't make it to the cafe, or have the whole gang to feed and eating out is just not in the budget that day.
Tuna, mayo, relish and mustard.
Of course this doesn't come with the restaurant's fun (yet soothing) atmosphere & fresh baked bread.
If you have the craving and just can't go, this knock-off will satisfy your need for awesome tuna salad though!
Why not have the full Panera experience and make my homemade version of their Creamy Tomato soup or my Panera Broccoli Cheddar Soup recipe. I also have a copycat recipe for Panera's 10 Vegetable Soup, which was discontinued in 2020. Any of these soups would make a great combo with the sandwich!

One of the things that did not carry over from my childhood is a like of tuna. Just cannot eat it....it's fish and fish is just too fishy for me!
Victoria Conner says
I also hate the fish smell. My auntie taught me to just add a squeeze fresh lemon juice. Now I can eat tuna fish sandwiches with no problem.

I love me some Tuna fish! This looks delicious!

This is one of my favorite sandwiches to get at Panera. Thanks for sharing this recipe so I can make it at home now!
Crystal says
It looks delicious, for sure. What do you think I could substitute for the mayo?
Myra says
Since I like spice, i like to add Spicy Ranch. Since it ranch and its also spicy, it does alter the flavor but It is what I do to avoid mayo and add a bit more flavor
Tommy says
Nonfat unflavored Greek yogurt. I mix that with Hidden Valley ranch mix for a nonfat high protein faux ranch dressing.

This sounds yummy!!! Love to find new ways to fix tuna salad sandwiches!!!

I loved the tuna salad. I'll make this recipe again.

I have used relish with tuna for years. I like the idea of adding dijon mustard. I also put sliced avocado on the sandwich along with finely diced onion.

Where is the recipe?

Ugh... Thank you so much for asking. The recipe card got deleted somehow. I just put it back in.

Someone in the comments insinuated that this recipe was a new way to make tuna and I am now thoroughly confused. When did drained tuna, mixed with mayo, mustard and relish become new? I'll keep looking.
Robin Gagnon says
Yeah this is pretty "regular" tuna. You may prefer my Italian Tuna. It has no mayo and lots of chopped veggies.

Good luck in your search.

That was an awesome response to a fairly negative post. Ill try them both, if I don't like either one I just won't make it again and promise not to tell you it's mundane!
Robin Gagnon says
At least it's not just tuna and mayo...lol
Stacey says
Is 1.5 teaspoons of may accurate?
Robin Gagnon says
Yes, I know it doesn't seem like much. You can always add a little more after to your taste, but combined with the relish and mustard it should coat the tuna enough.

I’m with HH I thought I was going to stumble across something that was new this will end up tasting like the tuna I’ve been having since the 80’s lol maybe someone who works at Panera will leak the recipe 😩
Jen says
I have to chime in here because I am amused at the comments of this being mundane. Have you never been to a Panera, the food is pretty mundane! With that said this tastes exactly like theirs if you let it sit in the fridge at least overnight. Restaurant tuna generally tastes better than what we make at home because most places make theirs up in advance in large batches.

Love this. My go to lunch.
