Oreo cookies are my daughter's favorite, so I just had to make the Oreo Dump Cake recipe that's been so popular on TikTok. It's a bit different than my other dump cakes, but she was delighted with it, so I'd call it a winner!
The Oreo dump cake is made with just a few ingredients: Oreo cookies, chocolate cake mix, butter, whipped topping (Cool Whip) and sweetened condensed milk. As this is a dump cake, the ingredients are layered not mixed like a traditional cake.
How to Make Oreo Dump Cake
Here I will walk you though this fun Oreo cake recipe with step-by-step pictures. If you are familiar with dump cakes already, you make just want to jump down to the printable recipe card.
The recipe makes 8 servings.
Prep Time: 10 mins Bake Time: 40-45 mins
Ingredients you will need for the Oreo dump cake:
Here is everything you will need to prepare the Oreo chocolate dump cake recipe:
- Oreo Cookies (standard package)
- 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
- 8 ounce tub of frozen whipped topping (aka Cool Whip), thawed
- 1 box chocolate fudge cake mix (any chocolate cake mix will do)
- 1 ½ sticks of butter slices
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat the interior of baking dish with cooking spray.
Arrange 24 Oreo cookies in a single layer covering the bottom of the baking pan, to create the bottom layer of the cake. Set the remaining Oreos aside for now.
Open the can of sweetened condensed milk and pour or over the cookies evenly.
Scoop the whipped topping out into the baking dish and spread out over the sweetened condensed milk to create an even layer.
Next sprinkle the chocolate cake mix over the whipped topping. Spread it out.
Cut the butter into thin slices and lay out over the dry cake mix. (If you prefer, melt the butter and pour it over the top of the cake mix. That is how I typically make my dump cakes. Both methods work fine.)
Place the Oreo cake into the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes. The cake is done when there aren't dry cake mix spots showing.
Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. The dump cake should be served warm, but not scorching hot. Ice cream and crushed Oreos are typically served on top of the cake.
Toppings for the Oreo Cake
This dump cake really calls for the works when it comes to toppings. I used all these on mine and it made for one delicious dessert! It's similar to a brownie sundae, but even more yummy!
- scoop of vanilla ice cream (or Cookies and Cream)
- drizzle of chocolate syrup
- whipped cream
- 1 whole cookie and 1 crumbled cookie per serving
Variations on the Recipe
Here are a few fun swaps you can try. I always encourage making simple recipes like this your own.
- Try red velvet cake mix or a white cake mix instead of chocolate. Either will make the Oreos stand out more.
- Go super chocolatey and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the whipped topping or cake mix layers.
I hope you enjoy this easy Oreo Dump cake. I'd love to hear how it turns out and any interesting changes you make.
Storing
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator. Make sure you have cooled cake completely first. Store covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container, if you don't have much left. Reheat to warm when serving.
