Snicker Apple salad is a great dessert salad anytime of year. Your family and friends are sure to love this caramel apple cheesecake salad recipe and it is super easy to prepare!
Snickers salad doesn't just serve for dessert this versatile chocolate candy bar salad with Granny Smith apples also works as a sweet side dish too. It is perfect to bring as a potluck dish to a church event or other casual gathering. The tart apple has a delicious contrast with the creamy dressing and bite size Snickers pieces.
Snickers Salad
This easy dessert made with fresh apples is a staple of potlucks and cook outs, particularly around the Midwest.
There are two primary versions of this picnic classic.
Both versions of the caramel apple cheesecake salad are great served as is or made into a fun delicious Snickers Caramel Apple Pie.
Snicker Apple Salad without pudding
Snickers Salad features bite sized pieces of delicious tart green apples and chopped Snickers bars in a sweet creamy dressing.
While many versions are made with box instant vanilla pudding mix and whipped topping (aka Cool Whip), this Snickers apple salad with cream cheese and fresh whipped cream is outstanding.
If you prefer the instant pudding mix style salad, check out my Snickers Caramel Apple Pie filling. The filling is a Snicker Apple Salad made with the instant pudding and topping. Both versions are equally delicious and make similar sized batches.
Snickers Caramel Apple Salad
While a fantastic summer salad for picnics and such, this is also a great cold dish for the fall during apple season.
I strongly prefer Granny Smith or other tart apples in this dessert, if you are fond of Gala, Honeycrisp or Red Delicious apples, they have flavor and texture well suited for the recipe as well.
While I think of it as a dessert, some serve this salad as a side dish too.
How to Make Snickers Salad
Here is a simple guide to making the Snickers Caramel Apple Salad with pictures.
Full printable recipe card below.
Prep Time: 12 minutes | Cook Time: n/a | Total Time: 12 minutes
Here is what you need:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounce cream cheese softened (one package)
- 8 medium tart apples such as Granny Smith
- 5 full size Snickers candy bars (reserve one for topping)
- 2 tbs Caramel sauce
Now Prepare the Dessert Salad
Let's make the caramel apple salad!
Core and chop the Granny Smith apples into bite sized pieces.
Chop up the Snickers bars into smaller pieces, as shown above.
Combine the apples and Snickers in a large bowl.
Get two smaller bowls. Whip the heavy cream then add in powered sugar on one bowl.
In another bowl, mash the soften cream cheese and stir until smooth.
Then fold the whipped cream in (do it in 2 to 3 batches).
Add the cream cheese mixture to the bowl with apples and candy. Mix well, then add to serving bowl.
Top with Chopped Snickers or peanuts and drizzle with caramel sauce.
Q&A
Yes, but ideally it should not be kept for more than two days. The dressing will help hold off browning overnight. Keep it in an airtight container or tightly plastic wrapped bowl.
While the other ingredients in this version are gluten free, Snickers are produced on machinery shared with products that do included gluten.
Unless your sensitivity is mild, or you have eaten the candy bar without issue, I would avoid.
No, I would not recommend that. The apple texture will be less appealing and the sweet dressing will break during thawing.
I hope you enjoy this apple dessert salad. My Banana Oatmeal Cookies with Chocolate Chips, Applesauce Cake or Peach Dump Cake Recipe are also great sweet treats to bring to a gathering.

I just made this snicker salad for a party this afternoon. It may not make it to the party so good I keep eating it.
Perris D says
We doubled up the Snickers and peeled the apples. We loved it that way.
Geneva B says
This is coming with me to a party in an hour. It's yummy, but does it need to stay refrigerated?
Robin Gagnon says
I would keep it refrigerated until serving... well other than travel time. It can stay out a little while, but it tastes better cool anyway.
Crystal Jones says
This apple salad was so yummy. We added extra snickers because we love them so much.
Robin Gagnon says
I am so glad you liked it... apple season is just starting & yes, Snickers are awesome 😀
Amanda R says
Do the apples turn brown quickly?
Robin Gagnon says
The dressing will postpone the browning. Not a dish I'd make too long before serving though.

Absolutely delicious! I used 100 Grand candy bars and also sprinkled some nutmeg and/or cinnamon sugar on top for a something little extra!
Kim says
I would like to make it but the instructions for how to make it do not say where to add the 2 tablespoons of Carmel sauce. Could you please let me know.
Robin Gagnon says
It is in the very last step. Simply drizzle it over the apple salad.
