Making oven fried potatoes is easy. As a recipe developer, I have tested various methods to perfect these oven fried potatoes. Here is my simple recipe for potato wedges fried in the oven. I love potatoes and enjoy experimenting with different recipes—this is one of many potato recipes I enjoy making (and a favorite of my daughter). The creamy texture of Yukon Gold potatoes contrasts beautifully with the crispy exterior, resulting in the perfect crispy potato. These oven fries are such a great alternative to typical French fries! For a quick, crispy result, leftovers can also be reheated in an air fryer.
Serve with sour cream dip for potatoes, spicy ketchup or make my Chick-fil-a sauce recipe to go with these potato wedges. These simple potatoes can be served as a side for a variety of dishes and pair well with a variety of main dishes such as steak, chicken, or pork. They are gluten free and make a wonderful side for sandwiches and meats, as well as a snack or appetizer. With a few adjustments to seasoning, to suit your own family’s taste, you can really make these your own. Make a few batches on football Sundays and watch them fly out of the baskets.
After serving, store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness. Reheat in oven or air fryer.
Easy Oven Fried Potatoes
Ingredients
- 4 potatoes all-purpose, red, white or Yukon Gold
- 3 tablespoon olive oil use avocado or canola oil if you prefer
- ½ teaspoon Mrs. Dash or other salt-free seasoning blend (I used the Onion & Herb Mrs. Dash)
- generous pinches of Kosher salt paprika & white pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cut potatoes into narrow wedges.
- Whisk together oil and all the seasonings in a large bowl.
- Drop potatoes in and toss potatoes until thoroughly coated.
- Take out potatoes and arrange on a baking sheet, avoid overlap. (Don't just dump them on the pan, you will get more oil than you need.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then increase heat to 400°F. or turn on the convection if you have that feature. Roasting at high heat is key to achieving a crispy potato.
- Continue to roast potatoes for 15 minutes or until potatoes are golden and fork tender inside.
- Transfer potatoes to a serving platter or basket to enjoy.
