Little Smokies Crescent Rolls aka Mini Pigs in a Blanket are easy to make and the perfect appetizer for casual parties. Little Smokies Pigs in a Blanket are classic snack fare on Football Sundays too! Who doesn't remember the mini sausage treats served at parties during childhood?
Mini crescent dogs are wrapped in crispy golden brown crescent roll dough and make the perfect accompaniment to any savory dipping sauce, or enjoy as they are!
Little Smokies Crescent Rolls
These are such an easy appetizer and so classic. Cocktail weenies such as Lil Smokies are simply wrapped in refrigerated crescent roll dough and baked. The results are definitely more than the sum of the parts.
Little Smokies Pigs in a Blanket
Little Smokies make the perfect appetizer sized pigs in a blanket. It is a great way to enjoy this treat without committing to a whole hot dog. They are also the perfect size for dipping... without double dipping. An essential for party food...lol.
If you aren't in the mood for making these, then make some Little Smokies crockpot appetizers for your gathering. They are equally as popular. If you buy too many of the little wieners, they can be used in most smoked sausage recipes.
Dipping Sauces
The little wrapped hot dogs are served warm alone or with a dip such as the Chili Cheese Dip they are pictured with (which is another crazy easy 2 ingredient recipe) my easy Queso Dip would also go great with the mini pigs in a blanket.
Other dipping sauces that team well with these baked mini crescent dogs are Yum Yum sauce, BBQ sauce or even my homemade Chick-Fil-A Sauce. Kids may also enjoy dunking them in ketchup and/or yellow mustard. Honey mustard and ranch dressing are also popular dips for these little crescent roll pigs in a blanket.

Ingredients Needed for Crescent Roll Pigs
Yes, this is all you need to make these Little Smokies Crescent Roll appetizers. Two ingredients; the cocktail wieners and the crescent dough. You will also need a baking sheet or two. Parchment paper to line the sheets with is suggested, since it makes for easy clean-up.
Blanket Mini Pigs in Pastry Dough
First preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. and line ungreased cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Unroll the dough and cut into narrow strips with a pizza cutter or chef's knife.
Wrap the mini sausages in the dough strips.
Then take the little wrapped hot dogs and place seam side down on prepared baking sheets in a single layer, spaced out a little. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm.
I hope you and your guests enjoy this fun appetizer!

While theesse mini pigs in a blanket crescent roll appetizers are best served fresh from the oven leftovers can hold over relatively well.

They can also be frozen. It is best to store in single layer or with freezer paper between the layers to avoid sticking together. They will last for up to 3 months frozen.

Do you think I could make these ahead of time for a camping trip and keep them refrigerated and then serve them at room temp???
Robin Gagnon says
The main issue would be that the moisture in the fridge might make the crust texture lose it's crispness. Maybe reheating over a campfire would rejuvenate them... that might be fun too.

The nutrition facts don't tell me what size is a serving?
Robin Gagnon says
4 mini pigs in a blanket per serving. I've updated the recipe card to reflect that.

Super Bowl Sunday is just around the corner so this recipe came at the perfect time!! These little guys will go fast at any party but pairing them with your chili cheese dip - they will fly off the table!! Delish!

I make this same basic recipe using the same dough and even the same mini hot dogs, but instead of a cheese sauce, I take 1/2 cup of butter, 3 tablespoons of honey and 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, and mix them together. Put the mix in the bottom of the pan, and set the pigs in the sauce.
If you like pigs in a blanket, and have a sweet tooth, this is THE way to go. 🙂
Robin Gagnon says
That sounds pretty yummy Kevin. I have a crockpot recipe where the little weiners are in a sweet sauce, but never tried marrying the two.
